Absent Baker, Absent Blogger. . .

It has been a while since I blogged, it's actually been over a month. It's not that I haven't been baking I just haven't been on my computer as much. I know my hubby is super excited about that, but I am having a blogging itch. We had a few people over for Super Bowl and I quickly whipped up dark chocolate cupcakes (box mix) and I added buttermilk in place of water and I added mini chocolate chips. I frosted them with a vanilla bean buttercream and made it look like grass. They were really yummy! For Valentines Day I baked my red velvet cupcakes that I blogged about a few posts ago for my friends engagement party. They were a hit, and they were even better than the first round. I probably could have eaten all forty of them, but I stuck with one. Pictures are below. I have a lot of requests for cupcakes...any ideas?

i once had a green tea cupcake. work on that one- it was really good! very mild- but kinda sweet and just good. it was also kinda creamy- so i think buttermilk was involved in the batter. i think the frosting was butter cream...but i think it would be yummy to flavor it a bit orange-y or even lavender-y. would be a great spring cupcake. or...what if there was no frosting, and more of a glaze? that would rock for spring/summer.

do you get the king author's flour catalog? they had these really cute cupcake liners, i thought of you when i saw them.
